Is there a requirement that I see a marriage counselor before I can file for a divorce in Minnesota?

There is no requirement that the parties have to seek marriage counseling before filing for a divorce.  However, many couples do seek the advice of a marriage counselor beforehand.  This is strictly voluntary.
