Who pays child support?  How is child support calculated?

Since January 1, 2007, child support is calculated based upon the respective
gross incomes of both parties.  Child care and medical support costs are allocated between the parties based upon the same ratio of income between the parties used to calculate basic child support.  There are income shares guidelines used in child support determinations.  These guidelines are based upon the cost of raising children at different income levels excluding medical support, child care and education costs.  Total child support is one amount which includes basic support, medical support and child care.
